Symphony Square was originally designed as a southeastward extension of Waterloo Park starting in 1971, now revived to serve as home of the Waterloo Greenway.
Creek Show, now in its sixth year, is a free, open-to-the-public display of light-based art installations along Waller Creek in downtown Austin. Come walk along Waller Creek between 9th St. and 12th St. to view the art designed to bring attention to the future revitalization of Waller Creek and its transformation into a series of urban parks. This family-friendly event attracted over 50,000 visitors from all over Austin last year.
Symphony Square, a hidden jewel along Waller Creek, has been revived by the Waterloo Greenway after a four-month restoration project. The historic site is a rare oasis in downtown Austin and a time capsule that represents so many memories and stories associated with it.
Now seven months into construction, we are well on our way to unveiling an extraordinary project that takes an equally exceptional team to bring to life.
Thanks to a partnership between the State of Texas, the City of Austin, and Waterloo Greenway, a heritage live oak from the State Capitol Complex was relocated to Waterloo Park on February 24, 2019.
