Just Announced: CommUNITY Day Event Lineup

Waterloo Greenway Conservancy today announced the full programming lineup for the highly anticipated grand reopening of Waterloo Park and debut of the world-class Moody Amphitheater.

In partnership with the City of Austin, the Conservancy will commemorate August 14th with CommUNITY Day — a free, family-friendly festival with dozens of activations and live multi-cultural performances, all in the reimagined 11-acre downtown park.

Wall Painting for Austin

12th St. and Red River St. at Waterloo Park

Wall painting for Austin, designed by internationally-renowned Venezuelan artist Arturo Herrera, is located on the Waller Creek Tunnel Inlet Facility at Waterloo Park – highly visible to passersby, both in car and on foot. This mural was created using acrylic paint on exposed concrete substrate finished with eco-friendly coating in June 2021.

The mural was commissioned by Waterloo Greenway Conservancy in partnership with the City of Austin’s Watershed Protection and Parks & Recreation Departments.

Discover the Winkler Family Wetland Terrace at Waterloo Park

Construction continues in the southeast corner of Waterloo Park where visitors will be able to access the full Waterloo Greenway trail system that runs along Waller Creek and connects to Lady Bird Lake.

Known as the Winkler Family Wetland Terrace, this densely planted area of the park will serve as the trailhead to a restored Waterloo Greenway and will soon be a welcoming gathering space where people can take a pleasant stroll, unwind, and enjoy scenic views of Waller Creek.
