On this very special day dedicated to trees, we’re taking a look back at the 150-ton heritage live oak that was relocated from the State Capitol Complex to Waterloo Park in 2019, thanks to a partnership between the State of Texas, the City of Austin, and Waterloo Greenway.
This feat was a giant leap in the development of a reimagined Waterloo Park, set to open this summer.
Waterloo Greenway believes that future of our community is being cultivated in the minds of our youngest learners. To kick off our educational programming, we asked AISD and Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (TSBVI) elementary school students to help us tell the tale of our ever-elusive mascot, the Creek Monster.
As construction nears completion at Waterloo Park, scheduled to open later this summer, we will begin installing and testing sound equipment at the new Moody Amphitheater. The audio tests will take place intermittently during the day on Saturday, April 10, and on Sunday, April 11.
Waterloo Greenway today announced the appointment of Kathy Miller as interim CEO to guide the organization forward as former CEO Peter Mullan departs for a new role as Chief of Architecture and Urban Design for the Austin Transit Partnership (ATP). Miller began her post with the Conservancy on March 15, previously serving as Executive Director of the Texas Freedom Network for 16 years.

It takes a village to bring Waterloo Greenway to life and renew the ecology of Waller Creek from 15th Street to Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin.
