On September 10, 2022, Waterloo Greenway relocated a 45” trunk diameter pecan tree to a new home along the southern end of Waller Creek in downtown Austin near the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center.
We did it, Austin! After many years in the making, the construction fence surrounding Waterloo Park has come down and the 11 acres are yours once again — Waterloo Park and Moody Amphitheater are now open to the public!

Construction continues in the southeast corner of Waterloo Park where visitors will be able to access the full Waterloo Greenway trail system that runs along Waller Creek and connects to Lady Bird Lake.
Known as the Winkler Family Wetland Terrace, this densely planted area of the park will serve as the trailhead to a restored Waterloo Greenway and will soon be a welcoming gathering space where people can take a pleasant stroll, unwind, and enjoy scenic views of Waller Creek.
This week, 3,000 seats were set up on Moody Amphitheater’s lower lawn for the first time. This is just a glimpse at what the venue will look like when our inaugural concert season kicks off later this year!

As construction nears completion at Waterloo Park, scheduled to open later this summer, we will begin installing and testing sound equipment at the new Moody Amphitheater. The audio tests will take place intermittently during the day on Saturday, April 10, and on Sunday, April 11.
It takes a village to bring Waterloo Greenway to life and renew the ecology of Waller Creek from 15th Street to Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin. At the northern end of Waterloo Park, creek restoration continues thanks to a collaborative effort between the City of Austin’s Watershed Protection Department (WPD), Parks and Recreation Department, and us, the Waterloo Greenway Conservancy.
