Waterloo Park is ready for you!

Get lost exploring 11 acres of revitalized greenspace, 1.5 miles of trails, stunning Hill Country Gardens, the Moody Amphitheater, and so much more. Waterloo Park is a natural haven where Austinites and visitors alike can enjoy the outdoors, gather with friends, and build community.


General Information

Waterloo Park is located at 500 E 12th Street, Austin, TX 78701.

Park Hours: 5:00 AM – 10:00 PM, including Moody Amphitheater. Hours are subject to change on event days.

Moody Amphitheater is located at 1401 N Trinity St, Austin, TX 78701.

The Box Office is open any day there is an event at the venue. For most event days, the Box Office will open at 5pm and remain open until the main act goes on stage. Tickets can be purchased for any Moody Amphitheater event during hours of operation.

Parking

Waterloo Park guests can find parking at the nearby Capitol Visitors Parking garage located at 1201 San Jacinto Blvd. (Daytime parking is free for the first 2 hours. $1 for each half hour thereafter. Maximum daily charge is $12. No overnight parking. Special Event rates may apply.) Paid evening/weekend parking is also available in State Garages A & F. (Monday – Friday daytime visitor parking is prohibited, as these garages are reserved for State Employees).

Additionally, you can use the Trip Planner at capmetro.org/plan for public transit options.

Personal bike parking is available at 15th St. & Red River St. and along Trinity St. between 12th St. & 15th St.

Waterloo Park Rules

Park Rules Prohibit

  • Littering
  • Glass containers
  • Alcohol consumption outside of designated areas
  • Smoking, vaping, or illegal drug use
  • Off-leash pets
  • Skateboarding, scooters, or motorized vehicles
  • Climbing on buildings and railings
  • Entering Waller Creek or feeding wildlife
  • Entering garden beds or disturbing flowers and plants
  • Obstructing entrances, sidewalks, and trails
  • Performances or amplified sound, except by permit
  • Commercial activity including photography, except by permit
  • Camping prohibited, except by permit

All visitors are subject to City of Austin and Parks & Recreation regulations and ordinances.

Waterloo Park Accessibility

Waterloo Park was designed and built with people of all abilities in mind. It is our top priority to provide equitable access to guests with disabilities at Waterloo Park, and future park spaces along Waterloo Greenway. Upon opening, Waterloo Park will be in compliance with The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

ADA Entrance

There are multiple ADA Entrances along the perimeter of Waterloo Park.

ADA Parking

State parking garages have ADA parking spaces available first-come first-served on event nights.  Convenient venue access is provided immediately east across the street from the garages to the designated ADA entrance.

If you are receiving a Cap Metro Special Transit ride, please instruct the driver to drop you off at 1401 North Trinity street.  Expects delays at the end of night during public egress and traffic from the venue.

Capital Metro bus stops located near the venue include:

  • Stop ID 593: at Lavaca/15th St.
  • Stop ID 864:  at Trinity/12th St.
  • Stop ID 919:  at San Jacinto/14th St.
  • Stop ID 6382:  at Red River/11th St.

Interpreter Requests

If you will need an interpreter for an event at Moody Amphitheater, please give us at least 2 weeks notice to secure. Guests that request an interpreter will need to pick up their tickets at will call. When the tickets are picked up we will introduce you to your interpreter for the evening and take you to your seats. There is no charge for interpreter services. Please email info@waterloogreenway.org to arrange for an interpreter for your visit.

ADA Restrooms

ADA stalls are located in each restroom at Waterloo Park.

Downtown Austin Alliance + WGC

Waterloo Park is operated and maintained by Waterloo Greenway Conservancy, with significant support from the Downtown Austin Alliance and their Ambassadors Program. The Downtown Austin Alliance Ambassadors are stewards for the downtown area and serve as resources for both locals and visitors.
Each day, a group of these ambassadors serve Waterloo Greenway by providing guests general park information, direction assistance, local insider tips, and beautification services.

Through their support and promotion of downtown businesses, beautiful parks, open space, nightlife, arts and culture, they help us make Waterloo Greenway and all of downtown Austin a welcoming place for everyone to enjoy!

If you ever need assistance when visiting Waterloo Park or along the trails of Waterloo Greenway, please look for an Ambassador wearing a green shirt with the Downtown Austin Alliance logo.

Rental Inquiries

The 11-acre Waterloo Park is a beautiful location for your next photo shoot. Please review our photography guidelines before visiting the park to ensure the protection of our greenspace and the safety of all visitors.

Personal Photography/Video Guidelines

A permit is not required for personal photography.

Examples include but are not limited to:

• Family photos
• Pet photos
• Graduation photos
• Birthday photos

Personal photo/video cannot obstruct any park areas or restrict access to public facilities. Please note, Waterloo Park is an active space with regular special events and concerts, view upcoming events ahead of your visit. No additional fees apply.

Please respect Waterloo Greenway visitors and help us protect all trees, plants, grass, and structures during your visit.

Commercial Photography/Video Guidelines

A permit is required for all commercial photo & video shoots.

In order to photograph or film at Waterloo Greenway, you must first submit a completed permit application. Applications must be submitted 2-3 business days prior to the requested date. 

Fees are determined by the information indicated on the application; prices will not be provided via phone or email. Upon receipt of your application, you will be notified of the permit fee and arrangements for payment. Once your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation email with a Waterloo Park photography permit. Upon arrival at Waterloo Park, Park Ambassadors will ask for proof of a photography permit on the day of your photoshoot. Commercial photography conducted without a permit will be asked to leave Waterloo Park.

Field Trips

We’d love to host you and your students at Waterloo Park!

Located just a few blocks away from the Texas Capitol, Waterloo Park is an ideal location to stop by and visit during your trip to Austin. The ADA-accessible greenspace features a local food truck, shaded seating area with tables and chairs, children’s playground, public restrooms, and other amenities.
