Waterloo Greenway Takes Part in National COVID-19 Memorial

On January 19, 2021, Waterloo Greenway joined thousands of cities across the country for a national moment of unity and remembrance.

Waterloo Park’s Moody Amphitheater and Hill Country Garden were illuminated on Tuesday night to honor the lives we’ve lost to COVID-19 and the communities across our country that have been forever changed by the ongoing pandemic.

Hosted by the Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC), Americans were invited to come together for this national moment of unity and remembrance that coincided with a lighting ceremony held around the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C.

“The inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris represents the beginning of a new national journey. However, in the midst of a pandemic – when so many Americans are grieving the loss of family, friends, and neighbors – it is important that we honor those who have died, reflect on what has been one of the more challenging periods in the nation’s history, and renew our commitment to coming together to end the pandemic and rebuild our nation,” said PIC Communications Director Pili Tobar.
