Take a sneak peek at Waterloo Greenway Phase II: The Confluence

Weaving natural spaces into downtown Austin’s growing urban landscape, the new greenspaces of Phase II (13 acres!) will help foster community, connection, and sustainability beside the most ecologically diverse section of Waller Creek, located between 4th St. and Lady Bird Lake.

As construction continues on Phase II, we are seeing significant environmental restoration along Waller Creek. Along with our partners at the City of Austin, Waterloo Greenway Conservancy is creating a resilient ecosystem and landscape, integrating nature into Austin’s bustling downtown atmosphere. An additional 1,600 trees, 200,000 mature plants, and 10 acres of seed mixes are poised to improve downtown air quality and reduce the urban heat island effect.

The Confluence will improve access through downtown by way of four new bridges and a board walk, inviting visitors to experience beautiful, accessible, and lively new public spaces, immersed in the natural environment of Waller Creek. The area includes new community gathering places, access to Austin’s history and culture, and connections to popular destinations and amenities in downtown.
