About three years ago, when I first learned about the Waller Creek transformation, my first question was: “Why don’t more of my peers know about this incredible project?”
Generation Waller, or GenWaller as we’ve dubbed it, is part of the answer to that question. Now at the onset of our second year as an organized group, GenWaller is a collective of young professionals working together to support the Waller Creek Conservancy in achieving the vision for a new one-of-a-kind green space in Austin. And we are excited to be a part of making this vision a reality!
GenWaller is gaining momentum for another productive year with more than fifty members and growing. Our priority is to spread awareness and engagement about the remarkable transformation underway for Austin’s own Waller Creek. In addition to providing a wealth of networking opportunities for our members, GenWaller is an outlet for young professionals to share their time and talents for a change all Austinites––lifelong, newly arrived, young, and old––can rally around. Throughout the year we host a series of creative volunteer, educational, and social events for our members to connect and engage with the greater Austin community.
We also have opportunities for further engagement for members looking to play an active role in the direction of our group. Our Events, Volunteer, and Community Engagement Committees have hit the ground running this spring. Stay tuned for another enthusiastic year of GenWaller efforts!
If you or someone you know is interested in getting involved, we’d love to see you at one of our upcoming events. And, don’t forget to check out our GenWaller page to sign-up today!
