Join us on October 2, 2022 for Outside Voices at Waterloo Park featuring two incredible artists, soprano, Jasmine Williams and pianist, Ben Tibbetts as they present a program of opera, musical theatre and pop. We hope you enjoy the Journey!

This event is free, open to the public, and will take place on the Meredith Tree Deck at Waterloo Park. Floor space and chairs will be available. Pillows, blankets, and picnics are highly encouraged. Jasmine Williams

Jasmine is a performer, educator, and director of education, as well as an Austin, Texas native. With her experience in both opera performance and in arts administration, Jasmine currently serves as Director of Education of the Greg Easley-Bryant young artist program at Austin Artists Project. Within this role, Jasmine oversees and facilitates free private lessons provided to the band and choir program at Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders located in Austin, Texas. Additionally, she has her own private studio teaching voice to students in the Austin and Dallas metroplex. Jasmine received her BA in music education at Huston-Tillotson University and continued her studies at Southern Methodist University where she earned a Masters of Music degree in Voice Performance.

Williams has performed on many occasions throughout the Austin area including the Austin Opera chorus and was the inaugural insight fellow to Grammy award-winning choral ensemble Conspirare. Recently, Jasmine was featured as the soprano soloist in the world premiere of At War With Ourselves-400 years of you composed by 2x Emmy-Nominee Michael Abels with text by National Book Award-winning poet Nikky Finney with Kronos Quartet and Inversion Ensemble. Her singing background is versatile as she studied and performed in many styles: operatic, jazz, gospel, and musical theatre. Passionate about her love for singing combined with education, Jasmine devotes her free time to mentoring the underserved. When Jasmine is not singing or teaching she enjoys learning how to cook and spending time with her friends and family.

Ben Tibbetts

Ben Tibbetts is a professional pianist and composer working in the area of Austin, Texas. As a piano accompanist, Ben specializes in both collaborative performance and high-level improvisation.

Ben teaches piano and composition lessons at Timbral Music Studios, the Armstrong Community Music School, and Premier Music Academy. He is a regular accompanist for classes at Ballet Austin and a frequent performer for events in the Austin area, including weekly services at the Trinity Church of Austin.

From 2016-2020, Ben was as a staff accompanist at UMass Amherst, performing with students on dozens of recitals, classes, masterclasses, and private lessons every semester.
