What better place to grow a lifelong love of learning, community, and the outdoors than our FREE weekly early childhood education series in Waterloo Park?

Little hands get hands-on fun at wonder-filled workshops focused on literacy, bilingual storytelling, music and dance, cultural learning, and nature play.

Each week features a different style of play from our partners at Texas Book Festival, Austin Public Library, Armstrong Community Music School, Read the Room, Creative Action, and the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center.

Join author/illustrator Don Tate for a storytime reading of Roto and Roy: To the Rescue!, perfect for fans of helicopters and adventure. And, make sure to stick around for a live drawing session with Don.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at Waterloo Park! While it’s important to read and share Latinx and Hispanic stories all year long, September and October are dedicated to celebrating and amplifying Latinx/Hispanic voices. Join us as we explore bilingual books, music, crafts, and interactive readings that feature Austin’s Latinx and Hispanic community!

Sing, dance, and play along with Ms. Monica while learning about Día de los Muertos in this bilingual Canta y Baila Conmigo family music class. Children and adults will have an interactive music-making experience while being immersed in the Spanish language and learning about this important upcoming Mexican holiday.

Join us for an unBOOlievably fun and spooky celebration of Halloween and Dia de los Muertos. Read the Room will lead an exploration of bravery and facing our fears through storytelling, movement, and music.

Being bilingual is a superpower! Language and growth for young children happen at extraordinary rates when all senses are engaged, especially through sound and language. Join Creative Action for a multisensory experience and celebration of languages/idiomas and of course plenty of music and movement. ¡Vamos a bailar y cantar juntos!
