Día de los Muertos

Join Waterloo Greenway for Día de los Muertos, a vibrant community celebration honoring the lives and memories of those who have passed. Experience an evening featuring beautiful altars, live music and dance performances, family-friendly art and cultural activities, a Mercado y Más artisan market showcasing local creatives, and food available for purchase from local food vendors.

Guests are invited to explore beautifully designed community altars, including a main ofrenda designed by local floral studio Teoxochitl Design, presented by Austin Subaru, where visitors may contribute photos and mementos in honor of their loved ones. As well as an Alebrijes Altar, a special pet altar designed by artist Nikki Diaz and presented by Tito’s Vodka, celebrating the lives of past cherished animal companions. Throughout the evening, enjoy Cumbia Dance Lessons with Native Texan Two Step and performances by Chris “Tejanoman” Tristan, Mariachi Corazon de Tejas, Danza Azteca Guadalupana, and Ballet Folklorico Maricruz. Watch artists Arden Gonzales and Angel Ortega bring Día de los Muertos to life through live painting, presented by Liquid Death! Then capture a memory at our photo booth, presented by Siete Foods, located next to the altars and live painting area.

Stop by the Familia y Niños Zone and enjoy hands-on activities, supported by H-E-B, including face painting presented by Central Texas Face Painting and other activities by Austin Energy and Crockett ECHS National Art Honor Society. Then catch up on your holiday shopping at Mercado y Más, an artisan market presented by Future Front Texas featuring local artists and small businesses. A variety of local food and beverage vendors will be on-site offering festive favorites throughout the evening. Parents, take a well-deserved break! Relax and unwind at our Estrella Jalisco Beer Garden, presented by Brown Distributing.

The community altars will remain on display through Monday, November 2, inviting visitors to continue reflecting and honoring loved ones. Guests are also invited to return that evening for a special Día de los Muertos edition of Waterloo Wellness: Yoga & Sound, presented in partnership with Castle Hill Fitness, offering a peaceful opportunity for movement and mindfulness among the altars.
