Pop-Up Picnic raises funds and awareness for Waller Creek

Thank you to the entire Austin community for joining us on Saturday at the 5th Annual Waller Creek Pop-Up Picnic! The evening drew more than a thousand friends and neighbors to support the transformation of Waller Creek in downtown Austin. We at the Conservancy believe events like the Pop-Up Picnic allow Austinites to imagine the future of Waller Creek Park as a welcoming green space that encourages play, education, health, culture, the arts, and more.

This year’s Pop-Up Picnic was the most successful yet, raising more than twice as much as in years past. These funds allow us to continue to provide year-round, community-based arts, education, and environmental programming while we work toward our goal of transforming Waller Creek. All of this would not be possible without the tremendous work of volunteers and community members who have made this event an Austin favorite. A special thank you to our amazing Pop-Up Picnic Co-Chairs: Julie Blakeslee & John Spong, Lauren Smith Ford, Elaine Garza, Caroline Haley, Lauren Moorman, and Courtney Trucksess.

We would also like to thank our generous participating restaurants: Baby Greens, Blue Dahlia Bistro, The Brewer’s Table, Bullfight, Café No Sé, Central Standard, Clark’s, Easy Tiger, Franklin Barbecue, Goodall’s Kitchen, Home Slice, Jeffrey’s, June’s, Justine’s, Kemuri Tatsu-Ya, Kuneho, La Condesa, Lucy’s Fried Chicken, Noble Sandwiches, Olamaie, Patricia’s Table, Salt Lick BBQ, Sway, and Uchiko.

Huge thanks to our Presenting Sponsor, Outdoor Voices, as well as, our Title Sponsors: Downtown Austin Alliance and UBS Financial Services; Lawn Sponsors: Big Red Sun and Urbanspace; and Basket Sponsors: Big Bend Brewing Co, Keith Kreeger Studios, Moreland Properties, Twin Liquors, and Yeti.

And, special thanks to our pro bono graphic designer Avalon McKenzie.
