A turning point for Waller Creek

June 20, 2013 will be remembered as a great day for Waller Creek. Yesterday, in a unanimous vote, Austin City Council approved MVVA’s extraordinary design plan that envisions 5 parks, 2 trails, and restored creek space. Council also authorized the negotiation and execution of the joint development agreement, solidifying an historic public-private partnership between the City of Austin and the Waller Creek Conservancy.

The action council took yesterday is a commitment to ensuring that a vital green artery for Austin can finally be realized. This is Waller Creek’s moment.

The conservancy’s mission, to “transform and sustain Waller Creek creating an extraordinary urban place that connects, surprises and inspires all of us,” recognizes that this is a project for everyone at every commitment level. Investments of all sizes will make this transformation possible.
