On October 8, more than 700 guests gathered at Waterloo Park for Glow in the Park, Waterloo Greenway’s annual gala celebrating the power of philanthropy to shape Austin’s future. With exceptional cuisine by MML Hospitality, a beautiful fall evening, and a spirited performance by Texas favorite Pat Green, the sold-out celebration raised $2 million to support Waterloo Greenway’s mission to build, operate, activate, and sustain an extraordinary urban park system in the heart of Austin.
The evening marked an exciting milestone with the opening of The Confluence, a 14-acre expansion featuring 200,000 plants and 1,600 trees. Along Waller Creek, Waterloo Greenway is creating a vibrant, connected park and trail system that brings Austinites closer to community, art, nature, and each other.
The impact of Glow extends well beyond one evening. Funds raised support the ongoing care and operations of Waterloo Park and The Confluence, along with the free music, art, and community programming that bring these public spaces to life. This philanthropic support helps ensure Waterloo Greenway remains beautiful, welcoming, and accessible to all Austinites.
Waterloo Greenway extends heartfelt thanks to event chairs Geri and Matthew Hooks and Melba and Ted Whatley; honorary chairs Charles Attal, Amy Corbin, and Rosemary and Russell Douglass; and the sponsors, Host Committee, table hosts, and guests whose generosity made this remarkable evening possible.
As Waterloo Greenway continues to grow, so does its impact on the city. Every gift helps sustain a greener, more connected Austin, where an extraordinary urban park system creates lasting opportunities for people to gather, experience nature and art, and connect with one another for generations to come.
