Waterloo Greenway and Siete Family Foods Partner to Bring Día de los Muertos to Waterloo Park on November 1

Enjoy live music and dance, community altars, calavera face painting, themed cocktails, local artisan vendors, and more!

Austin, TX — July 18, 2024 –  Waterloo Greenway Conservancy today announced Día de los Muertos at Waterloo Park, presented by Siete Family Foods, on November 1. Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, long observed in Mexico and other Latin American countries and communities, is a holiday now embraced globally. Each culture infuses their own unique influences into vibrant festivities that honor the dead. Gather with us as we celebrate both the centuries-old and modern traditions shared from around the world.

The free nighttime festival will feature live music and dance performances, a Latinx artisan craft market, themed cocktails, local food vendors, family-friendly hands-on activities, calavera face painting, and more!

Local Tejano florist Jose Arrieta Hinojos (Teocochitl Designs) will transform the Moody Amphitheater stage into a community “ofrenda,” or altar, where visitors are invited to place images and decorations that honor their families and friends who have passed. Guests can also remember beloved departed pets at a special Alebrijes Altar designed by artist Ernest Ramirez (@muertosclothingco).

Día de los Muertos at Waterloo Park is presented by Siete Family Foods. Based in Austin, Texas, Siete makes delicious, Mexican-American food with thoughtfully selected ingredients.
