Not precisely classical music and not quite traditional folk, American Dreamer has cultivated a unique sound they call “orchestral folk.” Audiences and fans call their sound just plain great! The Texas-based quintet is set to bring this blended sound steeped with warmth and wonder to Concert on the Creek on Sunday, September 23, 2018.
With one foot in classical music and the other comfortably in folk, the common thread that runs through every song, and each member of the group, is the natural urge to share sounds, emotions, and stories through music.
Comprised of two former rockers (guitar and drums) and three classical musicians (violin, cello, bass) the ensemble has over 30 years of collective experience and its members can be found performing in the Austin Symphony Orchestra, directing school orchestras, leading studios, and teaching at the University of Texas at Austin.
Comprised of Sasha Klare-Ayvazian (vocals/guitar), Audrey Lee (violin), Courtney Castaneda (cello), Dana Wygmans (vocals, bass), and Rick Palese (drums), American Dreamer’s music, while fundamentally simple, unfolds into a multi-layered soundscape. Beautifully blended strings coupled with honest lyrics and rich vocal harmonies provide listeners with a lot to sink their ears into.
Join American Dreamer at Concert on the Creek on Sunday, September 23 at Waller Creek for a free family-friendly concert presented by Waller Creek Conservancy and 89.5 KMFA as part of Austin Museum Partnership’s Austin Museum Day.
