Waterloo Park Continues to Take Shape

As 2020 approaches, our construction team DPR continues to make progress at Waterloo Park. Located between 12th and 15th Streets along Red River, Waterloo Park will soon be home to 11 acres of welcoming green space, imaginative playscapes, lush gardens, and the world-class Moody Amphitheater.

Over the last couple of months, the 5,000-person-capacity venue’s 15 ft. walls have started to come up. Once the walls are complete, the back-of-house roof will be poured and construction will begin on the amphitheater’s massive steel and aluminum canopy.

Construction has already begun on the elevated promenade at the southwestern corner of Waterloo Park. This walkway will snake its way around the Kitty King Powell Lawn and connect you to 1.5 miles of tree-lined hike-and-bike trails throughout the park.

Additionally, a stone slide is currently being fabricated off-site and will make its way to Waterloo Park by the end of the year. This slide will be built into the landscape of the Kitty King Powell Lawn alongside a variety of unique play structures.

We’re so excited to open Waterloo Park in 2020 and look forward to activating the space with free community programs year-round! Learn more about Waterloo Greenway’s upcoming destinations here.
