This week, nearly 38,000 square feet of fresh grass is being spread out and packed onto Waterloo Park’s Great Lawn! Before the lush sod is installed, the landscape is thoroughly leveled and fertilized to create a perfect environment for grass to grow. Our world-class landscape architecture team, Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, Inc., selected Latitude 36 Bermuda grass for Waterloo Park because of its durability in high-traffic environments and quick recovery time.
By the end of this month, the interior of the Moody Amphitheater will be complete and imaginative play structures installed in the Kitty King Powell Lawn. Handrails are now starting to line the long, winding sidewalks of Waterloo Park, with native plants and vibrant wildflowers getting planted through the end of the year.
Next summer, the revitalized 11-acre Waterloo Park will be a central hub of activity for our entire community to enjoy. Whether you’re taking a stroll across the elevated Suzanne Deal Booth Skywalk, enjoying a picnic with friends, or kicking back on the Great Lawn to catch a show at the Moody Amphitheater, Waterloo Park will soon be home to a wild array of unforgettable experiences.
