EVENT UPDATE 4/20: Tonight’s Tales on the Trail event is cancelled due to inclement weather. We hope to see you at our next Tales on the Trail events on May 11, June 8, and July 9.

Join us for a moderated panel discussion that will explore the historical disparities of Austin green spaces, as well as Waterloo Greenway’s mission to revive Waller Creek and its surrounding green spaces for the benefit of all.

Developing green space among modern urban infrastructure is a growing priority throughout the City of Austin. Improving access to green space in and around the city can improve human health, revitalize ecosystems, and boost a region’s economy. However, without proper engagement and management, these projects can worsen existing socioeconomic and ecological problems or even create new ones.

About the Moderator

Virginia Cumberbatch

As a storyteller, racial justice educator and organizer, Virginia’s work sits at the intersection of community advocacy and creative activism. With a heart to elevate the voices of people of color whose stories are often siloed or ignored, she co-birthed Rosa Rebellion, “a platform for creative activism by and for women of color,” – creating space for the brilliance and thought leadership of women of color in media, policy and community organizing. Beyond Rosa Rebellion, Virginia supports the development of a culture and ethos of equity for organizations, as a racial justice educator and writer.
